Terms of use
Last revised:
These terms govern the use of CheckTechOut. By using the site you accept them; if you do not agree, please do not use it.
CheckTechOut is an independent comparison site: we gather specifications and prices published by manufacturers and stores so you can decide. We do not sell the products we compare and we are not part of the purchase you make.
1. What this service is
We publish specification sheets, scores and price comparisons across stores. The information comes from public sources and from the stores; we keep it up to date continuously, but it can be out of date or wrong.
Before buying, always check the price, availability and conditions on the store’s own site: they sell the product and they are responsible for the sale, the warranty and returns.
2. Accounts
You can read the site without an account. Writing a review, suggesting a correction or proposing a new model requires signing in: that is how we know who contributed what, and how we can tell you the outcome. Signing in is with Google, and it creates the account if you did not have one.
- Give accurate details and do not impersonate anyone.
- Signing in with Google is all we ask for: we never see or store your password.
- One account per person. We may suspend or delete accounts that break these terms, send spam or try to manipulate the catalog.
- You can delete your account whenever you like; published reviews stop being linked to you if you ask.
3. Reviews and proposals
What you write stays yours. By submitting it you give us permission to publish, translate and adapt it to the site’s format, and you confirm it is yours, that it is your honest opinion, and that it contains no third-party data and nothing unlawful.
- We publish a label with your name or, if you did not give one, a shortened version of your email (for example "Ana G."). We never publish your full email address.
- We review contributions before publishing. We may edit them for format or length and reject those that are spam, advertising, offensive, unlawful or unrelated to the product.
- Reviews are personal opinions, not facts verified by us. The score shown on a product page is the mean of the published ones, not an endorsement.
- Corrections are checked against the manufacturer’s sheet or other sources before being applied.
4. Acceptable use
So the site stays useful for everyone, you may not:
- Automate bulk access (scraping, bots, systematic crawling) or resell the content or the catalog data.
- Interfere with the service, overload it, or try to reach what is not yours.
- Publish unlawful content, unsolicited advertising or malicious links.
- Impersonate another person, a store or a manufacturer.
5. Affiliate links and funding
Some links to stores are affiliate links: if you buy through them we may receive a commission from the store. The price you pay is exactly the same, and the commission does not influence which products we show or the order of the stores, which is by price.
The site may also show advertising or sponsorships, always labelled as such.
6. Intellectual property
The code, the design, the texts and the selection and structure of the data are ours or used with permission. Manufacturers’ and stores’ brands, names and logos belong to their owners and are shown only to identify the products and the stores.
You may quote or link to the site, and use the data to decide your purchase. You may not copy the whole catalog or feed it into another service without permission.
7. Availability and changes
The service is provided as it is. We may change features, stop showing certain data or interrupt the service for maintenance, and we may update these terms: the date at the top shows the last revision.
8. Liability
We take care with the data we publish, but we cannot guarantee that a price, a specification or availability is accurate at the moment you read it. We are not liable for purchasing decisions you take from the information on the site, nor for indirect damage arising from its use.
None of the above limits the rights the law grants to consumers, nor any liability that cannot legally be excluded.
9. Governing law and contact
These terms are governed by Spanish law. If you are a consumer, you may bring a claim before the courts of your own domicile. For anything about these terms, write to hello@checktechout.com.
